The tile industry is currently experiencing new developments in technological R&D, channel transformation, and response to the international market. The industry continues to move toward high-end, intelligent, and green development, with several companies enhancing product competitiveness through material innovation and process upgrades. For instance, new silver-white metallic tiles utilize special granular glaze technology to significantly improve wear resistance and stain resistance while maintaining their metallic aesthetic. Additionally, progress in photocatalytic self-cleaning ceramic technology, achieved through material modification to enhance visible light utilization, shows promise for applications in green building.
Channel transformation is also a key focus. The traditional home mall model is facing challenges, with declining rents and rising vacancy rates prompting dealers to shift toward more cost-effective independent stores, building material streets, or new factory-direct warehouse models. The direct warehouse model, which integrates “front store and rear warehouse,” enables quick pickup and price advantages, with some practices already leading to a significant increase in customer traffic and order conversion rates.
The international market landscape is becoming more complex. Vietnam has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into ceramic tiles from India, while the U.S. has imposed high “double countervailing” duties on sol-gel alumina-based ceramic abrasive grains from China, indicating that exporting enterprises may face more trade barriers.
Significant progress has also been made in the field of specialty ceramics. A pressureless sintered silicon carbide ceramic production line has successfully begun trial production; its high-temperature resistance and thermal conductivity outperform traditional materials, and its application in industrial kilns can effectively save energy and reduce consumption. High-end aluminum nitride ceramic materials have also achieved full supply chain independence, breaking foreign monopolies and meeting the demand for high-performance packaging materials in high-end industries like semiconductors.
Looking ahead, the tile industry will continue to focus on technological breakthroughs, channel optimization, and industrial chain collaboration to address cost pressures and market uncertainties, exploring paths for high-quality development.
